There are plenty of adventurous things to do in Twin Falls, Idaho, such as chasing waterfalls, hiking, dining, historical markers, and gorgeous views for days! I’ll walk you through all the exhilarating adventures in this south-central Idaho city.

Whether you’re seeking an adrenaline rush, a casual hike, or just looking for beautiful views, I’ll guide you through the best things to do in Twin Falls, Idaho. Let’s get started!

Chase A Waterfall

Just north of Twin Falls is the mighty Snake River. The National Park Service informs us that the Snake River is the fourth-largest river in the United States, spanning an astounding 1,080 miles from Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming to its confluence with the Columbia River in Washington State.

Along this significant river and its tributaries are countless waterfalls, several of which are located right in or near Twin Falls, Idaho! From the mighty Shoshone to the spring-fed Minnie Miller Falls, there is much to see in Twin Falls.

Lemmon & Minnie Miller Falls

You’ll find Lemmon Falls and Minnie Miller Falls in Thousand Springs State Park, northwest of Twin Falls, off Highway 30. A $7 entrance fee is required per vehicle to enter the park, but it’s worth it when you stand at the bottom of the breathtaking Falls!

Augur Falls

Augur Falls is located in Augur Falls Park, northwest of Twin Falls proper. The park has many trails, but the Augur Falls Park Loop Trail is the best for viewing Augur Falls. It’s a 4-mile trek that takes you around the entire park, including along the Snake River Canyon, where you can catch gorgeous views of the waterfall.

Perrine Coulee Falls

Perrine Coulee Falls was our favorite waterfall in Twin Falls. It plunges an impressive 200 feet (okay, technically 197 feet). It can be viewed from above on the Canyon Rim Trail, but I recommend climbing to the waterfall’s base via Canyon Springs Road. You can walk behind this waterfall for some truly spectacular views!

Pillar Falls

Pillar Falls is northeast of Twin Falls proper, right along the Snake River. Incredible rock formations dot the river near the falls, adding a picturesque and otherworldly feel to this waterfall. 

The best way to get there is by kayak or boat, but you can also hike there via the Canyon Rim Trail or through the Snake River Canyon Parks on the north side of the Snake River.

Shoshone Falls

Shoshone Falls is the big star of Twin Falls, labeled by many as the “Niagara of the West.” At 212 feet high and 950 feet wide, it’s larger than Niagara Falls! However, because the falls are controlled by hydroelectricity, they do not flow at all times of the year. Check out Shoshone in the spring and early summer for the best flows after the snowmelt.

There is a $5 entrance fee for Shoshone Park. It’s a short walk from the parking lot to an observation deck. You can also view Shoshone Falls from the Canyon Rim Trail.

While Shoshone Falls may not be as high as some of the country’s largest natural waterfalls, like Yosemite or Olo’upena Falls, the sheer width and grandeur make Shoshone Falls unique and awe-inspiring.

Twin Falls

Twin Falls used to have two waterfalls, but due to the diversion of the Snake River for irrigation and hydroelectric power, only one fall is present. You’ll find Twin Falls downstream of Milner Dam and a few miles upstream of Shoshone Falls. Check out Twin Falls Park to get views of this scenic waterfall!

Hike The Canyon Rim Trail

Hiking the Canyon Rim Trail is one of the best things to do in Twin Falls to view all the beauty the area offers. The trail is just over 12 miles long, but you can jump on and off wherever you like.

Some of the top highlights along the Canyon Rim Trail include:

The most spectacular part about the Canyon Rim Trail is the views. The Snake River Canyon is impressive. Much of it was carved by the Bonneville Flood, where a lake the size of Lake Michigan flooded the canyon for six weeks, bringing a 350-foot-high wall of water racing at 70 miles per hour through the canyon! To put it in perspective, the Perrine Bridge would have been under about 10 feet of water then.

The canyon is just massive, with jagged walls, alcoves, and remnants of volcanic activity that used to plague the area millions of years ago. Late spring, summer, and early fall are the best times to hike the Canyon Rim Trail, but it can also be done in the winter. Where To Start

You can start on either end of the trail:

• West end start: To start at the west end of the Canyon Rim Trail, park at the corner of East 4150 Rd N and N2900 E Washington Street N (GPS: N42.5992, W114.4796).
• East end start: If you’d rather start on the east end of the trail, park at the Twin Falls Centennial Trail parking lot in Shoshone Falls Park (GPS: N42.5928, W114.4020)

Other Access Points

A few other places exist where you can park your car and jump on the Canyon Rim Trail around Twin Falls. This is a great way to plan an out-and-back hike!

• Tule Drive: N42.5917, W114.4401 (closest to Shoshone Falls Park)
• Sportsman’s Warehouse: N42.5962, W114.4504
• Twin Falls Visitor Center: N42.5983, W114.4551
• Canyon Crest Event Center: N42.5973, W114.4742 (closest to Augor Falls Park)

Watch Base Jumpers On Perrine Bridge

The Perrine Bridge is the eighth-highest Bridge in the United States, with a deck height of 486 feet. Pair that with BASE jumping being legal on the Perrine Bridge without a permit any time of year, and you’ve got a BASE jumper’s paradise!

There are a few places to watch these adrenaline junkies soar off the Bridge and land on the hiking trail below.

• From Perrine Bridge: A walkway leads across the entire span of the Bridge, giving you front-row seats to BASE jumpers.
• From below: The Mogensen Trail takes you on a short walk directly beneath the Perrine Bridge.  Start at the trailhead on Canyon Springs Road and head east toward the Bridge.
• From the Canyon Rim Trail: The Canyon Rim Trail offers fantastic views of Perrine Bridge and any BASE jumpers soaring from the diving board!
• From the water: Launch a kayak or paddleboard from Centennial Waterfront Park and watch BASE jumpers from the water directly below the Bridge.

Watching BASE jumpers is one of the most unique things to do in Twin Falls. If you are an adrenaline junkie yourself, you might want to give it a go! Base Jump The Bridge offers tandem jumps for $275 (2026).

While at the Bridge, consider stepping inside the Twin Falls Visitor Center for souvenirs, gifts, exhibits, and educational signs about the location’s rich history.

Visit A Park

Parks abound in the Twin Falls area. There is so much beauty in the area that it’s only natural to want to immerse yourself in the outdoors here! Take a walk, have a family picnic, or bring your pup for an adventure at one of the many parks in Twin Falls.

Centennial Waterfront Park

This park is located in north Twin Falls, just west of the Perrine Bridge. While the main activity at this park is kayaking and paddleboarding, there are also hiking trails with beautiful views of the Perrine Bridge and Perrine Coulee Falls.

This is a fantastic place to have a family picnic, as there are picnic tables and a playground. You can also rent kayaks and paddleboards or go zip-lining.

Shoshone Falls and Dierkes Lake Park

Shoshone Falls Park and Dierkes Lake Park are in the same fee-use area. You’ll have to fork up $5 to enter this area, but the views are magical and make the fee well worth it.

Apart from the roaring Shoshone Falls, this is also a good area to jump on the Canyon Rim Trail, learn about the area’s geologic history, or have a nice family picnic on a warm sunny day.

Dierkes Lake Park is a short drive from Shoshone Park and features several lakes and a wonderful dog-friendly hiking trail. It has a playground, volleyball court, and picnic areas, making it an excellent family outing destination! Rock Creek Park

This charming little 12-acre park is located in west Twin Falls. You’ll find countless activities at this park, such as hiking and walking trails, horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, a playground, reservable pavilions, a disc golf course, fire rings, and fishing.

Twin Falls City Park

This small park, located in the heart of downtown Twin Falls, is a hub for city activities. From concerts and craft shows to festivals and picnics. It may not be the best destination for those seeking hiking and solitude, but it’s one of the best things to do in Twin Falls with kids, as there is a playground, restrooms, and water fountains on-site.

Check Out The Evel Knievel Snake River Canyon Jump Site

Evel Knievel is world-renowned as a daredevil, known most famously for his motorcycle stunts and daring jumps. On September 8, 1974, he made history by attempting to jump Snake River Canyon on his rocket-powered X-2 Skycycle.

Knievel never made it across due to his parachute opening prematurely, but you can still walk or ride your bike up to the launch site and imagine what a feat it would have been! A monument at the jump site commemorates Knievel’s attempt (He survived with minor injuries).

The canyon wouldn’t officially be jumped until 2016, when Eddie Braun and his rocket-powered motorcycle “Evel Spirit” successfully sailed 2,000 feet over the canyon.

The best way to see the jump site is by taking the Canyon Rim Trail. You can also access it by driving down Cheney Drive. It’s one of the best free things to do in Twin Falls.

Explore A Museum

Museums are a fantastic way to immerse yourself in history. It can be a learning experience for kids and adults, with fun, interactive exhibits. 

Twin Falls has no shortage of museums, with some of them being free! Visiting a museum is one of the best things to do in Twin Falls if you’re a history buff or enjoy learning about the area’s rich culture.

Museums are also one of the best things to do in Twin Falls in the winter, as you can escape the cold and snow in the warm interior of a museum!

Herrett Center for Arts and Science

One of the most exciting museums in Twin Falls is the Herrett Center for Arts and Science. It’s conveniently located on the main campus of the College of Southern Idaho. The Center has a museum, the Faulkner Planetarium, and the Centennial Observatory.

This non-profit museum features exhibits that explore the past, providing enriching education for people of all ages, from kids to adults.

Twin Falls County Museum

Whether you’re an Idaho native or just visiting for the day, the Twin Falls County Museum is your ticket to learning about the history of southern Idaho and the Magic Valley. Learn about early farming and what life was like in the 1900s.

The museum features the 1914 Union School Building, Farm House, Annex building, and museum grounds.

Idaho Farm and Ranch Museum

If learning about the history of farming and irrigation intrigues you, then you’ll definitely want to stop by the Idaho Farm and Ranch Museum. It provides information about the agricultural heritage of the Magic Valley and includes a historical barn, church, and farm equipment.

If you visit the museum on the second Saturday during the summer, you can see the museum come to life with Live History Days.

Stroll Through the Orton Botanical Garden

The Orton Botanical Garden showcases a beautiful display of cold-hardy cacti, yucca, and succulents. From May through August, the Garden bursts with color, attracting pollinators of all kinds. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for photographers, families, artists, and anyone wanting to be inspired by nature.

You’ll find the gardens on the west side of Twin Falls. It is free to enter the Gardens, but there may be an admission fee during special events. They are open on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 am to 6 pm. These hours may vary in the off-season. 

If you drop by during the Christmas season, you’ll be greeted with beautiful Christmas lights strewn throughout the Garden!

Dine Along The Rim

Once you experience Snake River Canyon, it’s hard to return to the mundane concrete jungle of the city. Luckily, two outstanding restaurants are situated right along the Rim, offering magnificent views while you grab a bite.

Redhawk Gastropub

Check out Redhawk Gastropub along Canyon Crest Drive for a more relaxed atmosphere. This establishment is after my own heart, with 28 beers on tap! Inside, you’ll find a cozy atmosphere with woodsy accents. Outside, you’ll have a magnificent view of the Snake River Canyon from your table.

When you open the menu, you’re bound to find something that makes you say, “Ooh, that sounds good!” They have a little of everything, from seafood and steaks to traditional pub fare and specialty items.

Their impressive beer, wine, and cocktail list is sure to please any palate. They have standard favorites like Bud and Coors Light, but if you want to really enjoy your brew with a view, check out their craft beer list – it’s phenomenal! Chocolate stouts, hazy IPAs, fruity wheat beers, red ales, and cream ales are just a few types on their list.

What better way to enjoy a view like Snake River Canyon than while enjoying delicious food and delectable craft beer?

Elevation 486

For more upscale dining, head to Elevation 486. As the name suggests, this restaurant sits 486 feet above the bottom of Snake River Canyon, offering spectacular views as you dine on entrees like king salmon, flatiron steak, and filet mignon.

In addition to their mouthwatering entrees, Elevation 486 features delicious appetizers, salads, soups, and original dishes you won’t find anywhere else. Their extensive wine list offers a pairing for any meal. If you’re not a fan of wine, they also have an exceptional specialty cocktail list and 12 craft beers on tap.

Inside Elevation 486, you’ll feel welcomed with a cozy central fireplace, red brick finish, and modern decor.
